History

Founded in 1995, ADB initially focused on developing and marketing software for the most advanced digital TV processors. In 1997 the business expanded into the design and manufacture of digital TV equipment.

Responding to the challenges and opportunities of the digital TV market, ADB has pioneered the emerging DTV industry, providing its customers with technically challenging and heavily customised products.

With overĀ 15 million digital set-top boxes sold to a worldwide customer base, ADB has expanded its business globally with established offices in Australia, India, Italy, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, the Ukraine, the United Kingdom and the United States.

  • Eight millionth set-top box shipped
  • Partners the BBC, Channel 4, Five and ITV in the first high definition field trail on the UK's digital terrestrial network
  • Participates in a pilot for the world's first high definition/MPEG 4 coverage of the Winter Olympics with RAI in Italy
  • Secures its first contract in Germany to supply digital IPTV set-top boxes to Hansenet

  • Secures first major IPTV contract to supply set-top boxes to Telefonica, Spain

  • Deploys the i-CAN 2000T receiver in the Italian market

  • Delivers set-top boxes for launch of digital terrestrial services in Italy
  • Wins German-Polish Innovation 2003: Spree-Neisse Bober Euroregion Award for its i-CAN 3000 interactive digital decoder
  • Announces world's first MHP Internet set-top box with terrestrial reception
  • i-CAN 3000TW wins 2 awards at the Cable and Satellite International Product of the Year Awards in Amsterdam
  • Passes DVB-MHP test suite and becomes the first and only company to have fully compliant MHP set-top boxes deployed in the market

2002

  • ADB Americas, headquartered in Chicago opens
  • Invited to supply digital TV technology for Poland's first MHP broadcast trial
  • Becomes the world's first set-top box provider to launch a MHP digital receiver - the i-CAN 3000 in Finland

2001

  • Announces the development of an optimised open-standard solution based on the Media Home Platform (MHP) specification and compliant with DVB-MHP 1.0.1
  • Receives "Best Customer in Asia Pacific region 2000" award from ST
  • Two millionth set-top box shipped
  • Worldwide marketing headquarters opens in Geneva, Switzerland

1998-2000

  • Opens offices in Australia, Spain and the Philippines
  • One millionth set-top box leaves ADB's manufacturing facility
