The evolution of the digital television industry has facilitated a number of technical standards. Such standards achieve the ultimate goal of not only driving interoperability and universal compliance, but also ensure that manufacturers' products meet the high standards necessary to function correctly on digital networks with the latest technology available.
ADB's level of technical understanding has been rewarded by its role in driving standards following the inception of digital television over 10 years ago. Many of our employees are seconded to various industry organisations, including, for example, the Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) and Multimedia Home Platform (MHP) initiatives.
Standards organisations often fall into one of two categories, private - mostly run by technology or patent owners - and open standards driven - supported by industry consortia. Suppliers must ensure that their products meet such standards often by compliance testing or self certification. ADB takes participation in standards organisations extremely seriously to ensure that products are of the best quality and perform with maximum efficiency.
