Corporate Social Responsibility

ADB conducts its business to comply with all national and international labour and health and safety laws. We also require that our business partners conduct their businesses along the same strict lines. These ethical standards are based on the conventions of the International Labour Organisation (ILO).

In summary, ADB ensures that:-

  • There is no discrimination in hiring, compensation, access to training, promotion, termination or retirement based on race, caste, national origin, religion, age, disability, gender, marital status, sexual orientation, union membership or political affiliation.
  • Employment is chosen freely.
  • Workers' rights to form and join organisations of their choice and to bargain collectively are preserved fully.
  • A safe and hygienic working environment is provided according to local health and safety standards and other applicable law.
  • Appropriate and regular health, safety and environmental safety training is provided to all.
  • Use of child labour is not permissible by ADB, its subcontractors, or their subcontractors.
  • Wages and benefits paid for a standard working week comply with national legal standards or industry benchmarks.
  • Working hours comply with national laws and industry standards.
  • Physical abuse or discipline, the threat of physical abuse, sexual or other harassment and verbal abuse or other forms of intimidation are prohibited.
